Together We Can

My fellow Mexicans, I am here today to speak to you about pulling our beautiful nation out of the depths of despair that has been brought upon us by the failure of our government. Our government did not protect us from the depression the rest of the world is facing; our government did not help us survive the massive blow it dealt us; our government let us fail. My belief is that we, as the strong, proud Mexican people that we are, can unite as a nation and rise above this. Only together can we overcome this disparity; only together can we triumph over our government, and replace it with a new one. Only together, can we stop the evil that currently maintains the power. Only as one large Mexican family, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, cousins, aunts and uncles, can we make a change. If we, the Mexican people, work as one, we can continue on our road towards greatness. It is our destiny to be great; we cannot let incompetent fools stand in our way.

Our government first failed us when they allowed our economy to become dependent on the other economies of the world. When they fell, we fell. If we had been a stronger, more united Mexico, we would not have needed to rely on others for our own welfare. I propose a change in the way we produce goods. We need to create our own industries and our own products; we need to rely on our selves only, and become a more self-sufficient people. If we created our own factories and commercial farms, not only will we create jobs, we will also be able to resist relying so heavily on importations to survive. Under this new plan, we can become a country that stands on its own two feet, and that can produce its own livelihood. With these new jobs for all on our farms and in our factories, we can also be more able to celebrate our brilliant Mexican heritage. For is there any other country on the planet as wonderful as our Mexico?

A second flaw of our government is its lack on consultation of its people on matters that regard the people. What is a government that does not ask its people’s opinions? The men running our country now are not equipped to handle the people’s will, and put into action policies and procedures that will help our people, and not hurt them. It is important that as a people, we have a say in our government. We are not uneducated people; we are not slow, or unprepared to make a decision regarding our own political fates. It is crucial to the success of a government that the people are involved in deciding matters of the state. Popular sovereignty needs to be put into place, and not a fake form of sovereignty that does not actually consult the people, but an actual poll and voting system. All should be given a say in their government, regardless of class or occupation, level of education, or location. It is key to the success of a strong Mexico that the people are given a say.

Our government has failed us my friends; it is time for us to take a stand against them. We need to stand up for ourselves, the great Mexican people that we are, and make a change for the better. It is time for us, the people of the working class to start a movement. We will create a movement towards happiness; a movement towards political freedom; a movement towards a better, more fulfilled, and all around greater Mexico.
