To my fellow workers

Fellow workers,

I just came from the streets!! And you cannot believe what I just heard. President Peron was proclaiming the declaration of workers! Today, February 24 of 1947 is a very important day for us, because finally our needs were heard. Our one and only president is having us in mind, and he was talking of all the rights we have, that are clearly never taken into account, but I am sure that after today they will be.
The president talked about the right to work, and yes we are currently employed in this factory, but how many of our sons, brother, cousins and friends are not employed? He acknowledges that work is indispensable for satisfying the spiritual and material needs of an individual, and that the right of work should be protected by the society. When our right to work has been protected? And also it should receive the dignity it deserves, because we are not less human because we work in this dark and dusty factory. And we not only have a right to work, but we also have a right to proper work conditions, we have a right to demand fair and proper work conditions! We need to stop this silence and start demanding for better conditions in our work environment. The society is obliged to see that these conditions are strictly regulated.

There are right that affect our work and our work conditions, but also we have other rights as human beings, did you know that? We have the right of well being, a right to an adequate dwelling place and adequate clothing and food. As workers, we should be able to satisfy our families’ needs. I also learned while hearing to the president that we have a right to the preservation of health, and to be very honest I didn’t even understand what he was talking about, “preservation of health? I asked a nurse that was standing next to me on the street, is there such a thing as the government caring for my health?” And she explained it to me, she told me that president PerĂ³n is planning great new reforms for the workers and that I why we should all support him. The society and the government should be responsible for the hygiene of the city and the security of our work space, and as we should have a right of decent working conditions, these working conditions should enable us as individuals to recover energy through sleep. Do you remember when the last time we recover energy through sleep was? Because I don’t, I don’t remember the last time when I felt re energized after a night sleep, because none sleep have helped me to re energize after the absolute exhaustion of working in this factory.
This next thing he talked about, was even a bigger surprise for me, we have a right to social security, yes fellow workers, as you are listening we have a right to be protected in case of disability or unemployment, which is great because that means that we can’t never be fired because then our employees will still in an indirect way pay us, and if they pay us we might as well work here. I know, I know how exciting this is. We have the right to protect our family, the president recognizes that family is a natural part of the destiny of the individual, and even though he has no children, he is still advocating for families, isn’t he such a great president?

Fellow workers, hearing the president’s declaration couldn’t make me happier, that is why I came right away to share all the good news with all of you, so we can all realize how great our president is. He is very worried about our needs like no one has been before, he cares about our rights like one has before, he is our protector and he is almost one of us.
