Dear Editor:
Regarding this idea of “populism” I will be giving a speech on Monday, April 15, 1948. I hope that many will attend and hear what I have to say. At as an Argentine woman, I have much to contribute and experience with the different political movements that have been sweeping our region, since long before I was born. Populism is a step in the right direction. Along the same lines as what President Franklin D. Roosevelt has done for the United States, President Juan Perón, our nation’s president is working to modernize our society.
I would consider my family to be living among the middle class. It has always been a thought of ours and our peers to give us more credit. Finally, the industrial working class is being recognized through more rights, included in the Declaration of Workers’ Rights, as well as many other topics of conversation in present day Buenos Aires. It is finally a concept which allows for more equal working rights, fairer wages, more protection of health, and better working conditions. We must support President Perón and his ideas. He is acting in a way similar to many other successful leaders. It is now our turn as a nation to fight for our rights and recognition!
I hope you will join me and some of my peers as we speak about this notion of positivism and the benefits it will have for our nation!
Carolina Garcia
